Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhaava” Roars Past ₹100 Crore at the Box Office

New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal’s historical action drama Chhaava has stormed past the ₹100 crore milestone at the box office. The film witnessed a massive surge in collections on its third day, bringing in ₹48.5 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava recorded an impressive 62.48% occupancy in Hindi markets on its first Sunday. Since its release on February 14, the film has amassed ₹116.5 crore in the domestic market, solidifying its status as a box office juggernaut.

A Historical Epic Winning Hearts

Chhaava chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Confederacy. Vicky Kaushal takes on the titular role, while Rashmika Mandanna stars as Yesubai Bhonsale, Sambhaji’s wife.

The film has also been lauded for its stellar supporting cast, with Akshaye Khanna delivering a compelling performance as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana portraying the fierce Hambirrao Mohite, Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.

Strong Nationwide Reception

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight Chhaava’s impressive box office trajectory. Sharing the figures from Day 2, he described the film as a “box office hurricane,” noting its phenomenal performance not only in Maharashtra—its core market—but also across key territories.

“Beyond Maharashtra, Chhaava has gained strong traction in major cities like Delhi, NCR, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Indore, Bhopal, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru,” Adarsh observed, emphasizing the film’s pan-India appeal.

A Record-Breaking Opening Weekend

Adarsh also projected an exceptional opening weekend for Chhaava, estimating collections to hover around ₹110 crore. Breaking down the numbers, he reported:

  • Friday: ₹33.10 crore
  • Saturday: ₹39.30 crore
  • Total (Week 1 so far): ₹72.40 crore

With these figures, Chhaava is on track to become one of the biggest Bollywood hits of the year.

A Landmark Collaboration

This film marks the first on-screen pairing of Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release. Chhaava is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, further cementing the studio’s reputation for delivering compelling cinematic experiences.

As the numbers continue to soar, it’s clear that Chhaava has struck a chord with audiences, blending historical grandeur with gripping storytelling.
